Bill Maroadi grew up in the moving business. During the summer, starting at the age of 11, he helped his Uncle Tony load and unload his moving van. Uncle Tony drove for a Mayflower agent, Shanahan Moving & Storage. As a young adult, Bill began working full time for Shanahan Transfer, starting as a packer, then driver and as a warehouseman.
After a tour in the Korean War, Bill returned to Pittsburgh to resume his career in the moving business. Bill married in 1955 and in 1960 he and Rose started a family.
In 1967 Bills dream to own a moving company, and provide for his family, became a reality. He started Maroadi Transfer & Storage working from the basement of his home performing packing and local moves for the residents of Pittsburgh. The success that Bill realized by providing personal, quality service, allowed him to lease warehouse space and purchase more vans. Today, Maroadi Transfer & Storage, Inc. has a large fleet of tractor-trailers, straight trucks and warehouse space of 100,000 square feet.
Bill has built Maroadi Transfer & Storage, Inc. from the humble beginnings in his basement into one of Mayflowers largest hauling agents on the East Coast. Maroadi Transfer & Storage, Inc. has been awarded Mayflowers Circle of Excellence award every year since its inception.
Bill is still active in the management decisions, along with all three of his children, and they will insure that Bills vision and dream will continue to live on.
